Pedestrian struck and killed in Meriden

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The Meriden police department is currently investigating an accident where a pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday evening.

According to police,officers were called to East Main Street near Center Street for the report of the pedestrian struck. When officers arrived, they found 68 year old Jack Coursey lying in the roadway, suffering multiple injuries. Coursey was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

An initial investigation found that Coursey purchased pizza across the street and was returning to his car when he was struck by 35 year old Jay Quigley. Quigley was traveling east on East Main Street when the accident occurred. Quigley was transported to Midstate for injuries in the crash.
