HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have arrested a man in connection with an accidental shooting last week in Windham, according to police. A 17-year-old who was shot in the head is still in critical condition.

State Police say a 17 year old was accidentally shot in the head on Nov. 11 around 10:15 pm.  Troopers found the victim in an upstairs bedroom at 63 Windham Center Road.

The teen was taken to the hospital and was reportedly conscious when troopers arrived. The shooting was originally reported to police as a drive-by shooting, but further investigation revealed that was not the case.

After conducting interviews and finding evidence, police obtained an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Jeremy McGeowan, of Windham, and arrested him Tuesday during a traffic stop in New London. Police say McGeowan cooperated with police during the arrest.

McGeowan is being held on a $500,000 bond.
