WOLCOTT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Bristol man was thrown from a pick-up truck police say he stole and flipped in Wolcott on Wednesday morning.

Police say 31-year-old Thomas Baird stole the running truck from Harold’s Convenience on Wolcott Road while the owner ran inside to get a newspaper just after 7 a.m. They say officers were following the truck at around 8:30 a.m. when it hit a dirt berm and rolled at the intersection of Woodtick Road and Clarke Street.

Baird was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition as of 5:30 p.m.

Bristol police say they arrested the Central Street man on Saturday for threatening and breach of peace. Wolcott police say he has spent time in jail.
