‘Career criminal’ sentenced in federal court for drug trafficking

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – A “career criminal” will spend nearly 14 years in prison followed by half a decade of supervised release for trafficking crack cocaine.

Anthony Sabato, 57, of West Haven, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Hartford to 165 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.

Court documents and statements made in court indicate Sabato conspired to distribute crack cocaine between March 2013 and March 2015.

An undercover operation also discovered that Sabato was selling prescription narcotics.

Sabato is considered a “career criminal” and has been convicted 35 times. Those include state convictions for assault, larceny, burglary and narcotics offenses. Sabato has been convicted at the federal level for firearms, gambling and fraud.
