HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – The Hartford Fire Department has announced a new measure it hopes will end up saving lives. Thursday the department announced that Narcan, or Naloxone is now being carried on all front line apparatus. Narcan has been extremely successful at reversing opioid over dosage. Members of the fire department have been trained on how to administer Narcan and are prepared to administer it according to department protocols. The department anticipates that having the treatment available will increase its ability for positive outcomes for the community.
