Veterans receive wartime service medals

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Dozens of military veterans were given wartime service medals on Thursday at the State Capitol.

State Senator Beth Bye awarded West Hartford veterans that served from World War II to the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

News 8 was there for the ceremony to talk to one of those veterans who served in the Air Force in the Korean War .

“I think it’s great. I really appreciate the fact that they recognize us and everyone else. It’s nice to know that somebody is thinking of us,” said US Air Force veteran Ed Jacovino.
