Wallingford Woman Arrested for Allegedly Collecting Unemployment Benefits Illegally

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH)- A Wallingford woman was arrested after police say she took thousands of dollars in unemployment money that she didn’t qualify for. 58-year-old Jean Corriveau is charged with larceny in the first degree.

Police say Corriveau collected about $8,000 in unemployment benefits over 5 month period from 2013 to 2014, but during that time Corriveau actually had a job. Corriveau was released on bond and is due back in court on Nov. 24.

The charge agains Corriveau, Larceny in the First Degree  by Defrauding a Public Community carries up to a 20 year prison sentence, and a $15,000 fine.
