Hartford city workers lend holiday helping hand

Hartford, Conn. (WTNH)- The holiday season is a time of giving, and that’s just what many municipal workers in the city of Hartford will be doing in the coming weeks.

The police department is doing its part by accepting non-perishable food donations to help families in the city who might not have a holiday feast otherwise.

Members of the Department of Public Works are collecting new toys, winter clothing and non-perishable food donations on December 2nd. The fire department is chipping in with a drive to collect children.

Mayor Pedro Segarra says it’s all about helping other, adding ‘everyone deserves to celebrate the holidays and I commend all city staff who are spreading the holiday spirit with these drives and fundraisers’
