New Britain firefighters battle South Main Street fire

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Britain Public Safety officials confirm to News 8 that a building has caught on fire on South Main Street early Tuesday morning.

Just after 5:00 a.m., firefighters responded to 412 South Main Street on reports of a building on fire. Mayor Erin Stewart tweeted out there were no injuries as a result of this fire.

Google Maps shows the location is a carpet store on the ground floor, with apartments located above the store. At this time it is not clear what may have started the fire. Fire officials will begin their preliminary investigation as soon as the fire is completely extinguished.
