Police: Former health care aide stole from patient

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A former health care aide was arrested Saturday after they allegedly stole from a former client.

According to police, officer began an investigation in June of 2012 after someone helping the victim, an elderly resident, noticed unauthorized usage of their ATM card.

Police say the former health care aide, 48 year old Eileen Vertucci, was employed as the victim’s aide between April 2012 through June 2012.

Police say Vertucci allegedly had access to the ATM card with authorization on behalf of the victim only at certain locations within Southington. Investigators found a total of 53 unauthorized transactions on the card with a loss of over $7000 between April 16 through June 19 of 2012.

Vertucci was charged with larceny in the second degree and illegal use of a credit card. She was arraigned in court on Monday and is due back December 17.
