School bus, car collide in Thomaston

THOMASTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Three people were taken to the hospital after a school bus and a car collided on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that at 2:46 p.m. Tuesday, a school bus carrying four high school students and a car crashed on Watertown Road.

The bus driver and two of the four students on board suffered minor injuries and were taken to Waterbury Hospital. The other two students were released on scene. The driver, and sole occupant, of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Both the vehicle and the school bus suffered extensive front end damage.

Police say an initial investigation shows that traffic on Watertown Road stopped to allow the vehicle to enter from a parking lot. When traffic was stopped, the school bus appears to have passed the stopped traffic on the right, colliding with the vehicle trying to enter traffic.

Police say the accident is still under investigation and neither driver has been cited for the accident.
