BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — While big box stores are trying to get your business on Black Friday, shops across the state are trying to lure folks for Small Business Saturday.
“There’s so much. It’s going to be like a circus here on Saturday,” said Branford’s Consign & Design Shoreline owner, Patti Todd. She says they just filled a Western corner in their store and to celebrate Saturday live jazz music will fill the shop. They’re raffling a gift card and selling off their massive Christmas collection.
Plus, they’ll have treats.
“Cannoli truck, hot chocolate and some exciting sales and promotions throughout the course of the day,” said Todd.
In New Haven, they’re offering free parking to lure folks downtown. Down at Idiom, Kimberly Pedrick says support like that has helped the shop small movement.
“The past two years is really when it’s gained momentum,” said Pedrick.
The New Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Tony Rescigno says small businesses drive our economy. He says they make up 95% of business.
“It can be supporting is so many different ways. Where you get your hair done. Where you get your nails done. All the various aspects come into play and something to keep in mind for Saturday,” said Pedrick.
