Conn. State Police release holiday enforcement stats


MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Throughout the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, the Connecticut State Police have increased their patrols on roads and highways.

The enforcement began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and will continue until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Troopers say they are focusing on drunk drivers, driving violations, and aggressive drivers.

State police released the statistics covering the start of the increased patrols (12:01 a.m. Wednesday) to 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

Statistics are as follows:

– 393 Speeding arrests
– 56 Seatbelt violations
– 904 Other hazardous violation arrests (unsafe lane changes, following too closely, cell phone usage/ texting, failure to signal, etc.)
– 9 DUI arrests
– 146 Accidents investigated
– 17 Accidents with injury
– 0 Fatalities
