Man’s body found in Willimantic home destroyed in fire

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– The body of a man was found in a Willimantic home destroyed by a fire on Monday.

Police say they located the body of a male victim inside the home at 144 Manners Avenue. The victim was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s officer for an autopsy.

The two alarm fire broke out in the early hours, fully consuming the home and collapsing the roof. All area fire departments in Willimantic, Windham and UConn responded to the scene.

The fire and death is under investigation by the Windham Fire Marshal and State Fire Marshal’s office. The identity of the victim will not be released until next of kin is notified.
