New teen center being built in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A new teen center is being planned in New Haven. It will be called “The Escape” and it’s set to open at the Community Center at Bethel A.M.E Church on Orchard Street.

Today, Wells Fargo Bank donated more than $7,000 to help construct the center. Young people aged 13-24 will be able to go there to work in a computer lab, play at the gym, learn in the greenhouse, or even use a recording studio.

“I think it’s a great way to support New Haven youth. Everyone needs a safe place to grow as they come of age and unfortunately not everyone has it,” said Kimberly Chamberlain, Wells Fargo.

The center is scheduled to open in March.
