New London, Conn. (WTNH) – A man with a prior state felony conviction for selling drugs, has pleaded guilty to having a firearm.

The New London Police Department and the Connecticut State Police searched the home of 25-year-old Elijah Griffin last April.  Inside a closet they found a loaded .38 caliber revolver and a loaded .45 caliber pistol. It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.

Yesterday, Griffin pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to having those firearms. He’s been detained since his arrest on April 30th.  He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 24, 2016.  He faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.
