Plastic surgeon settles for writing improper prescriptions

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)  –  A New York plastic surgeon has agreed to a settlement with the U.S. Attorney of Connecticut for improperly writing more than a dozen prescriptions.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 57 year old Cheryl Karcher of Brookfield, who is a plastic surgeon with Sadick Dermatology in Manhattan, has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle the allegations under the controlled substances act.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Karcher wrote at least 15 prescriptions for Percocet outside her normal medical practice.  The prescriptions were filled at pharmacies in Connecticut but were not given to the people they were prescribed for.
