VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have arrested a man accused of stealing nearly $100 worth of shrimp from a Stop & Shop grocery store in Vernon on Wednesday.

According to police, 49-year-old David Demeusy, of Tolland, shoplifted a bag of shrimp, that was later estimated to be valued at $95.92. Demeusy left the store but employees were able to get the license plate information as he fled, police said.

Officers arrested Demeusy when he returned to the store later in the day to pay for the stolen shrimp.

Demeusy posted a $5,000 bond and is due in court later this month.
