WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man has been arrested after police say he stole from a Westport store and then tried to return the items several days later.

Westport police were called to the Allen Edmonds store at 69 Main Street on Monday for a report that two black males had stolen merchandise from the store. Officers obtained surveillance video and began working to identify the suspects.

On Friday, one of the suspects went back to the store and tried to return the stolen items. A store employee recognized him and called police. Responding officers say the suspect initially gave a fake name, but was identified as 27-year-old Damian Bullock of Hartford.

After arresting Bullock, police found him in possession of two counterfeit $100 bills.

Bullock is charged with sixth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, criminal impersonation, and interfering with an officer. He is being held on $25,000 bond.
