South Windsor man arrested for evidence tampering

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in South Windsor have arrested a man on a host of charges after he allegedly struck a vehicle, left the scene, and later returned to take a piece of his car that had been left behind in the crash.

25-year-old Gary Deming Jr. faces charges of tampering with evidence, interfering with an officer, evading responsibility, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended, no insurance, and several motor vehicle infractions.

Deming Jr.’s charges stem from a November 27 accident in which police say he struck another car in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and Clark Street. Deming Jr.’s home was close to the crash scene and investigators believe he went to his Clark Street home, got on his motorcycle, drove back to scene and retrieved the bumper cover he’d lost and rode off with it.

Deming Jr.’s was released on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on December 17.
