Arrest made in Newtown armed home invasion

NEWTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police arrested a man in a home invasion that took place early Sunday morning in Newtown .

Officers were dispatched to a home on Andras Road after receiving reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived on scene at 14 Andras Road, they discovered the back door to the residence had been broken into and encountered a male walking towards them, later identified as Michael Dziubina. He was armed with a small pistol.

Dziubina, 27, of 31 Cold Spring Road in Newtown, was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Police said Dziubina used the gun to shoot the back door of the house and force it open. He was arrested and charged with home invasion, burglary, reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and criminal mischief.

Dziubina is being held on $100,000 bond and is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Monday.
