HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 39-year-old man is now facing multiple charges after police say he fell asleep at the wheel and drove his car into the lobby of a Hamden hotel.
Officers responded at 3:23 a.m. to reports of a car crash through the lobby of the Clarion Hotel and Suites on Whitney Avenue. Once on scene, they found that a car smashed through the front doors and into the front desk.
Authorities believe the driver, Corey Marritt, may have fallen asleep at the wheel of his Toyota Corolla. Marritt was a guest of the Clarion.
Police say there was one person working at the desk in the lobby at the time of the crash and that there were no injuries.
Marritt is now charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility and operating with a suspended license.
