Winsted woman dies in Thomaston crash

THOMASTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Marcella Shaw, 59, of Winsted, succumbed to injuries sustained during a crash on Route 8 North in Thomaston Sunday night.

Just before 6 p.m. Sunday night, Connecticut State Police officers of Troop L were dispatched to Route 8 North, just north of exit 40 in Thomaston. Upon arrival, they discovered the 2001 Subaru Legacy belonging to Marcella Shaw on its roof.

Police tell News 8, Shaw was traveling in the leftmost lane of three when she veered slightly off the roadway. Correcting the slight turn, her vehicle subsequently flipped over, and Shaw was ejected.

She was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:55 p.m. on Sunday evening, her next of kin notified.

There were no witnesses, and the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Trooper First Class Cashman at Troop L in Litchfield at (860) 626-7900.
