AAA: National gas price average could dip below $2

(WTNH) — Officials at AAA are saying the national average for unleaded gas is expected to drop below $2 any day now, which would be the first time it’s reached that low benchmark since 2009.

Half of America is already averaging under $2 per gallon of unleaded. Connecticut however is still among the top 10 states in the nation in terms of cost of gas.

At number 10, an average price per gallon in the Constitution State is $2.22, but that’s 55 cents less than Alaska, where unleaded gas costs the most, at $2.77 a gallon.

The cheapest gas in the country can be found in South Carolina where drivers are paying just $1.80 per gallon when they fill up their tanks.
