Hartford building evacuated after report of armed man

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford police responded to a report of a man with a gun at a building on Charter Oak Avenue that they now believe may be a swatting incident.

Just after 11:40 a.m., Hartford officers responded to 75 Charter Oak Avenue on a report of a man with a gun. Officers arrived on the scene quickly, but did not found any evidence of a man with gun.

Officers went into the building, and evacuated all occupants for about 90 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Concerned parents of students at Betances School on Charter Oak Avenue were instructed to wait on Sheldon Street to pick-up their kids. Officers said there was never any danger to children at the school.

The building was declared safe by 12:50 p.m. Hartford police are continuing their investigation.
