Phone scam making its way around Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) A new insurance phone scam is making the rounds in Connecticut.  The state wants you to be aware that someone may call you and try to get your personal information.

This latest scam involves a caller claiming to be with an insurance agency.  They say the company is canceling your policy because you “didn’t pay.”  The caller then asks for a payment over the phone.

If this, or something similar happens to you, hang up and do not give out your credit card number!  Call your insurance agency directly if you’re worried you missed a payment.
