Police seek 2 suspects in tobacco store armed robbery

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are looking for two men responsible for an armed robbery at a Newington tobacco store on Thursday night.

Just before 6:45 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Discount Tobacco at 123 Fenn Road for a reported robbery. Responding officers say a male entered the store and asked to buy an item. As the clerk was assisting him, he showed a gun and stole money from the register. A second suspect then walked into the store and stole several cigarette cartons.

The clerk described the first suspect as a black male, approximately 6’1″ tall, with a thin build and a beard. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark hooded sweatshirt, brown boots, a New York Yankees white baseball hat, and black-framed glasses at the time of the robbery. This suspect showed a black pistol during the robbery. The second suspect was a male, approximately 5’10” tall with a stocky build. He was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket, possibly with a hood attached, at the time of the robbery.

The suspects were last seen running north from the front of the store. A K-9 track was conducted, but unsuccessful in finding the suspects.
