Man arrested after trying to steal a car

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — 19-year-old Lyndon Ollivierre was arrested in an attempted robbery in Newington.

Police say someone called about a robbery on 305 Main Street. The caller said the suspect approached him and demanded the keys to his car. Ollivierre said he ad a firearm under his sweatshirt by pointing what the victim perceived as a gun from underneath the shirt.

When the victim refused and ran away, Ollivierre followed him. But he was able to call police. Ollivierre was arrested one mile away from the attempted robbery. Police did not find a gun.

Ollivierre was charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit larceny, breach of peace, and interfering with an officer. He was held on $100,000.00 bond.
