SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have arrested a man after they say he beat another man with a bat in a Shelton parking lot on Thursday morning.

Shelton police say around 9 a.m. Thursday they received several 911 calls saying a man was beating another man with a bat in the parking lot of the Hyatt House Hotel on Bridgeport Avenue. Responding officers found a bloodied man lying on the ground. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A woman on scene told officers that her husband, 28-year-old Chadwick Adams of New Jersey, had beat the other man and fled the scene. Shortly after, state police stopped Adams on the Merritt Parkway.

Police say their investigation showed that Adams had followed his wife to Shelton from New Jersey. Once at the hotel in Shelton, Adams confronted her regarding an ongoing domestic dispute. Police say an argument began between Adams and the man who was accompanying his wife, resulting in Adams striking the man several times with a baseball bat.

Adams was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is due in court on Friday.
