New Haven police say just before 11 p.m. December 1, they were called to Davenport Avenue and Elliot Street, where they found 37-year-old Dennis White lying in the road with a number of injuries, including a fractured skull. On December 17, police say White is still hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.

Doctors say White’s injuries make it look like he was hit by a car, but there was no evidence suggesting that he was. Police say that they have uncovered evidence that White was dragged beneath a white, silver or light-colored Audi A4 from Orchard Street to Davenport Avenue. The vehicle was last seen leaving the scene from Elliot Street to Sylvan Avenue.

Police did not receive any calls reporting the accident and there are no witnesses. They are still trying to figure out who is responsible. If you have any information, give police a call at (203) 946-6304.
