NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — Santa is coming early for shoppers in New Britain, they’re not going to have to pay for parking. Mayor Erin Stewart announced that starting Monday, December 21, shoppers won’t have to feed the meter to park, instead, they can shop for free for up to two hours.
“I hope by making it easier for residents to shop local that they will support the many unique businesses that we have in New Britain. These businesses add to our city’s identity and will fade if we don’t support them,” said Stewart.
Regular meter rates will start again on Saturday, December 26, at 7 a.m.
“I’m a big supporter of shopping local and reinvesting our hard earned dollars back into our community,” said Stewart, “So I hope you will consider taking advantage of this free parking to start or finish your holiday shopping.”
