(ABC)– A bizarre stabbing incident has led to the arrest of a woman in Toronto who police believe attacked a complete stranger in a store.
The woman, identified by Toronto police as 40-year-old Rohinie Bisesar, has been apprehended after four days on the run, authorities said.
Surveillance footage shows Bisesar leaving a store Friday, moments after she stabbed another woman in an “unprovoked” attack, police allege.
“As far as we are aware now, the victim does not know the suspect,” Toronto police spokesman David Hopkinson said.
Police had called for the public’s help in finding Bisesar, releasing photos of her and including her name after fielding tips.
A police poster had warned that suspect Bisesar was considered “armed and dangerous.”
“She’s very well educated; she has no criminal record. It’s out of the blue,” Hopkinson said.
Bisesar was questioned by police overnight and CTV Television Network reported that she arrived at court this morning ahead of her scheduled hearing.
“There’s only two people that know maybe why this happened,” Hopkinson said. “One of them lies in grave condition at the hospital. The other has just been arrested by the Toronto police.”
Bisesar has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon. If the victim — who has not been identified but remains in the hospital — dies, additional charges can be brought against Bisesar, police said.
