HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Hartford man will serve seven years in prison for a drunken driving crash that resulted in the death of his cousin and seriously injured another passenger.

The Hartford Courant reports (http://cour.at/1RV2n2K ) 27-year-old Michael Coppedge was sentenced Thursday for the crash that killed 21-year-old Darien Hodges and injured 34-year-old Natachia Hall.

Prosecutors say Coppedge was drunk when he drove his vehicle into a hair salon on Hartford’s Main Street on Feb. 1, 2014. Hall suffered several broken bones in the crash.

Coppedge pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter with a motor vehicle and assault with a motor vehicle earlier this year.

Coppedge told the court at sentencing that he hurts every day for his cousin.
