WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Officers in Willimantic have started their holiday patrols to keep the roads safe for drivers.

According to police, Operation Stop Another Needless Traffic Accident, better known as Operation S.A.N.T.A, will target drunk drivers, distracted driving, speeding and seatbelt enforcement.

Officers will be conducting these high visibility patrols up until New Year’s Day throughout the city, police said.

“The Holidays are meant to be a joyous time of the year, so please assist us in the holiday enforcement effort.  Should you spot a suspected drunk driver, call 911 and report it, this is in fact a true emergency,” police said.
