NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A West Haven man was stabbed Saturday in New Haven after he and two others confronted three men who robbed him earlier in the day.
New Haven Police say 35 Year old Santiago Mendoza suffered non life-threatening injuries in the assault.
According to Police Mendoza was drinking with co-workers at the auto-mechanic shop they worked at in West Haven when he and a co-worker drove to Rosette Street in New Haven to meet a woman. Police say when they arrived Javier was punched in the face by three Puerto Rican men who then robbed him of his valuables and cell phone. The colleagues drove back to the garage where they told Mendoza’s brother what happened and all three went back to Rosette Street and found the suspects still there and they all began fighting at which time Mendoza was stabbed.
Police are investigating the assault but police say the victims have been either reluctant to give up information on their assailants or were too intoxicated to identify them.
