Record number of New Englanders to travel over holiday

(WTNH) — A record number of people are expected to travel over the holiday this year. AAA says nearly one in three Americans is expected to travel 50 miles or more from home.

An AAA spokesperson said rising incomes and the lowest gas prices we are seeing over the years has given more money in people’s pockets to spend on travel.  The holiday travel season starts on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 to Sunday, January 3, 2016.

According to AAA, New Englanders found almost 4.4 million people will be getting away for the holiday. With so many people on the road, AAA is expecting a record number of emergency roadside assistance calls.
