Body of missing boater pulled from Hamburg Cove

LYME, Conn. (WTNH) — The body of a Hartford man who went missing Monday was pulled from the waters of Hamburg Cove Tuesday afternoon.

50-year-old Julius K. Thigpen’s body was recovered by the State Police Dive Team at 1:30 pm. Thigpen’s family reported to police that he had gone fishing in Lyme on Sunday, but never returned home.

The Old Saybrook Fire Department later found Thigpen’s 12′ open power boat anchored in the cove.

Police are continuing their investigation and the State Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
