Name released for boater missing in Lyme

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of the 50-year-old boater who went missing in Lyme.

Julius Thigpen of Hartford was reported missing by his family around 3 a.m. Monday after he failed to return home from a fishing trip in Hamburg Cove. His 12-foot power boat was found anchored in the cove later that morning.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection released his name on Tuesday and said a land and water search involving state police and a local fire department is continuing.

Rescue crews from Lyme, Essex, Deep River and other communities have launched boats in the search for the boater.
