Premier Subaru shares the love with a camp for kids with cancer

(WTNH) – Every month Premier Subaru shares the love by making a donation to local organizations and charities. This month Premier Subaru shared the love with Camp Rising Sun, a summer camp for children diagnosed with cancer.

Camp Rising Sun is a camp for kids ages 5-17 who have had the diagnosis of cancer.  Camp Rising Sun takes place the third week of August at Camp Jewell in Colebrook CT.  They are staffed entirely by volunteers including medical staff of a pediatric oncologist and 6 registered nurses. The camp is 100% free to our campers thanks to the support of sponsors.

Director of Camp Rising Sun Shaun Heffernan says “It’s really an opportunity for them to be a unique kid for who they are, and not be the kid with cancer.” Some children are at risk for infections and therefore do not have the option to go to other camps.
