ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — Time is running short for all the procrastinators out there, but it’s not too late yet. Some retailers in our area are staying open around the clock to accommodate the demand and the pressure is on.
“Absolutely, it’s on yeah,” said Kristie Lavorgna, of Shelton. “I got to get him a really good gift this year.”
Lavorgna drove to the Best Buy in Orange on Tuesday, still looking for presents for her parents.
“My father decided last minute he wanted a laptop and that wasn’t what I planned to buy, so now I’m out shopping for laptops,” she said.
Stores like Best Buy have extended hours through Christmas Eve, taking advantage of the many shoppers who waited.
“Really crazy,” said Ivyhanca Boyer, who works at the Best Buy. “To the point where we have everyone here and feel short-staffed.”
Going a step-further, Toys “R” Us will be open for 87 hours straight, closing at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Kohl’s tops them all, open around the clock for 170 hours, until they close at six in the evening on Thursday.
“It’s all done, all done,” said Jeff Carter. “Never too late for a last minute surprise. Stocking-stuffer makes it fun.”
Not everybody is feeling the pressure. Carter, who lives in Milford, is now a leisure shopper, since he checked off his list months ago.
“I plan it out, get it done by October,” Carter said.
Retailers said they’re expecting even bigger crowds for the next two days, leading into Christmas.
