Salem woman charged with cruelty to persons, sexual assault

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Salem woman is facing multiple charges including sexual assault and cruelty to persons after an incident that happened in November.

On Dec. 22 at about 1 p.m., detectives from Eastern District Major Crime took custody of Jillian Washburn at Queens County Criminal Court in New York after an extradition hearing. State police had an arrest warrant for Washburn in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred on Thanksgiving this year in Salem, Conn.

Washburn, 33, was transported back to Connecticut to Troop K in Colchester, where she was processed and held on bond pending her court date.

Washburn is charged with cruelty to persons, second degree assault, first degree sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and risk of injury. She was held on $250,000 bond.
