Medical Examiner: Ellington woman was shot to death

ELLINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Medical examiners have ruled the death of a woman in Ellington as a homicide. Medical examiners said Connie Dabate died from gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen.

Just after 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, state police responded to her home on Birchview Drive after receiving a report of a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, Troopers found smoke inside the home. Two victims were found inside the house, later identified as Connie and Richard Dabate, both 39, of Ellington.

Richard Dabate was transported to Hartford Hospital for further evaluation of what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

State police secured the scene and searched the area with canine teams. Detectives from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
