Man arrested for driving while under the influence and on the phone

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) — A 43-year-old South Windsor man was arrested and charged Saturday with a DUI and for using his cell phone while driving.

At roughly 9 p.m. on Saturday, a South Windsor officer stopped a vehicle on Buckland Road. Face to face with the driver, the officer suspected he was under the influence, and conducted a series of roadside sobriety tests.

Thomas Hatzilambros, 43, of 385 Graham Road in South Windsor, was arrested and charged for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, for using a handheld cell phone, and for failure to display registration plate. He was released on a $1000 bond, and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior on January 4.
