Shelton man charged in deadly 2011 traffic dispute

QUEENS, New York (WTNH) – A Shelton, Connecticut man has been charged with murder, attempted murder and other charges in connection to a deadly shooting following a 2011 traffic dispute.

According to court documents, George Cupi, 52, was driving in Queens in July of 2011 and tried to pass a double-parked car. Criminal complaints said Cupi got into an argument with the people in the car, left and returned a few moments later and shot the two men.

One man, 25, was killed. The other man in the vehicle, who was 31 at the time, was shot in the head but recovered.

Cupi returns to court on January 12.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
