MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car on Route 15 in Meriden.
Connecticut State Police say that just before 6:30 a.m. Friday, 54-year-old Cesar Bonet of Meriden pulled over to the right shoulder of Route 15 north, just past exit 68W, to help another motorist who had struck a deer.
Bonet was standing in the right shoulder when he was struck by a car. Bonet was taken to Midstate Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Meriden Fire started the new year off with multiple EMS runs as well as a structure fire on Sunset Avenue and a serious MVA on Rt. 15 north.

The driver, 36-year-old Jorge Munoz-Palacios of East Hartford was taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
State police say both vehicles required a tow. The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Troop I in Bethany.
