Accidents cause significant delays on Rt. 8 in Derby

DERBY, Conn. (WTNH)– There are significant delays on Rt. 8 southbound in Derby this morning.

The Department of Transportation reports that Rt. 8 southbound is congested for 6.3 miles between Exits 22 and 15.

Police say the delays are a result of four rear-ending accidents that happened just after 7:30 a.m. They say the car accidents were very minor and that no one was injured.

Troopers say the left lane of Rt. 8 southbound has just reopened but there is no word on when traffic will clear.
