BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Blue Hills Road was temporarily closed in both directions early Tuesday morning, as members of Bloomfield Police and the Blue Hills Fire Department worked in tandem to contain a car fire that broke out while at the gas station.

At 5:41 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Blue Hills Fire Department was dispatched to Blue Hills Road where it intersects Cottage Grove Road. They responded to a report of a car fire in which a gas pump may be involved. Upon their arrival, Bloomfield Police had already evacuated the gas station and activated an emergency power shutoff. Blue Hills firefighters immediately requested that the fire marshal and all units respond.

In spite of the call for backup, the fire was mostly knocked down within a matter of minutes. Crews were cleared from the scene and roads were reopened by 8 a.m.
