New Haven man Sentenced for Illegal Gun Possession

HARTFORD, Conn (WTNH)- A New Haven man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison for illegally owning a firearm.

Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for Connecticut, announced Tuesday that 35-year-old Tommy Battle, of New Haven, was sentenced to three years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm.

On April 22nd, 2015, a search by police was conducted at Battle’s residence. Battle, who was on parole, was discovered to have a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The gun was loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition.

Battle was on parole for previous felony convictions, including possession of a firearm sold illegally. He was released from prison two months before the search of his home.

On October 1st, 2015,he pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
