Stabbing in New Haven may be gang-related

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Investigators are trying to figure out if a stabbing in New Haven is gang-related.

Police found 26-year-old Darrin Winfrey stabbed in the lower back near 217 English Street around 10:18 p.m. Saturday night after his girlfriend called police.

She told police Winfrey was drunk when he came to the apartment. Then he left to go to a store. When he returned, that’s when she said he collapsed on her.

Investigators say Winfrey is not cooperating with investigators. Police are now looking through surveillance video to try to figure out what happened.

He is expected to make a full recovery. No arrests have been made at this time.
