2 arrested after Coventry officer busts drug deal

COVENTRY, Conn. (WTNH) — Coventry police have arrested two individuals after busting them with crack cocaine.

Coventry police say that around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, an officer stopped a woman driving on Main Street near Depot Road for a moving violation. She was issued a warning.

After leaving the traffic stop, police say the officer saw the woman pull into the Coyote Flaco parking lot and park alongside a dark-colored SUV with its parking lights on. Police say at the time, the business was closed.

Just after midnight, the officer saw the same two vehicles parked near each other in the Church Lane area of Main Street. The officer approached the cars and learned that one of the drivers had crack cocaine and the other driver was trying to buy it.

Both individuals were arrested.

The male driver was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, and criminal attempt to sell narcotics.

The female driver was charged with criminal attempt to possess narcotics.
